We got married on Feb. 26, 1994, at Grace Baptist Church, after a short engagement (he proposed on Christmas Day, 1993). It was a beautiful clear day, in the mid 80s. I remember I told Ross that the wedding was at 1:00 pm (it was at 2:00 pm actually), so that he wouldn't be late! (that is one of our trademarks, we are ALWAYS late for EVERYTHING!!! LOL) He wasn't allowed to see me until I walked up the aisle. My best friend Jolene was my Maid of Honor and Ross' youngest brother, Clay, was the Best Man (I made him swear that he would not make a toast to us LOL). Another of Ross' brothers, Scott, was the Usher. And the pastor's kids (in their 30's) sang for us. They sang Unchained Melodies right before I walked up the aisle.
Anyway, to the wedding, LOL, yes, I get sidetracked.
My brother, Mark, walked me halfway up the aisle. (I had asked him as a child if he would, he was the "main" man in my life until I was 9). Then, halfway up the aisle, my stepfather, Jackie took my arm and walked me up the other half (the "main" man thru out the second half of my life). I remember, the look on Ross' face when he saw me for the first time that day. Stunned is how I would describe it, with his eyes all teared up. I think the pastor was more nervous than either of us, he was shaking something awful! LOL (also, someone in the congregation was cold and turned the heater up in the church so it was VERY hot!!! I thought I was going to melt!) Everything went PERFECT!! All of the words were spoken correctly, and no dropped rings, you know, the usual oops. Then, after we said our vows, we turned to each other as the pastor's son sang, I Can't Help Falling In Love With You. I cannot describe the love I felt at that moment! It was AWESOME!!!
We wanted a reception with music and dancing, but we decided to just have a simple reception (especially in light of the fact that everyone in the congregation was older. LOL). We actually did the drinking of the wine (with arms entwined) without spilling ANY on my dress!! We didn't smash cake in each other's face either (I threatened him with his life if he smashed cake in my face!). So the reception went well too. We took TONS of pictures (I was really tired of smiling for the camera too LOL).
Oh, and they did get our car all "decorated" too! They didn't have any baby powder, so they put bird seed in the A/C vents and turned the A/C on full blast (thank God Ross noticed it before we turned on the car! LOL), and let's just say that if we had wanted "protected" sex, well, we were safe in that department too! LOL They were ALL over the car!!! They also put Vaseline under the door handles, so that Ross' hands would be nice and greasy too! As we left, they threw bird seed at us and it took most of our honeymoon to get all of it out of Ross' hair! LOL So, there it is, our wedding.
