Stop Abortion ~ Not A Beating Heart!

~received Nov. 2000~

The link was broken and I couldn't find the new link. :(

July 2005: I called Julie to schedule an appointment to 'release' Caleb from Dr. B's care. We got to talking, and I started pushing to get the implants procedure scheduled. I told her that Dr. B had said we needed to wait 6 months, but that I wanted to go ahead and have everything ready so that we could get this done before the end of the year (6 months is Nov 4th). In the past 5 years that we have been dealing with all of this, we only manage to get 1 surgery a year done, thus, we get hit with our Out of Pocket expense with our insurance every year! I told her that we had the Out of Pocket expense paid for this year already, and that I wanted to get this surgery done before the end of the year so we wouldn't get stuck w/ another Out of Pocket expense next year. :) :) We talked a lot, and I am sure Julie thinks I am nuts, but bless her heart, she was wonderful and got the ball rolling for us.

Enter in Dr. G... He is the Dr. that is actually creating the prosthetic for Caleb. He is absolutely the best!!!! When you look at his work, it is absolutely stunning!!! You can *NOT* tell real from prosthetic when you see it! I am still absolutely amazed!!!!!!!!!!! Well, his office called us, and we have been working on getting molds and stuff to get that part done. We saw Dr. G on Sept 9th to get the molds of Caleb's ears done. That was SO COOL in itself! Caleb got to play with the plaster a little and they explained to us what they were going to do. It was really neat!!!

Now, Dr. G does not actually put the implants in, he has another Dr. do that, so now we enter in Dr. E. We met with him on Sept. 9th (I love these Dr's, even though they aren't in practice together, they have all been absolutely the BEST at getting our appts coordinated where we make 1 trip to Dallas instead of a half a dozen! :) :) :)). He said he would do what he could to get those implants in by the end of the year. He told us that if we didn't hear from his office within 3 weeks, to call them and see what was up. Now Ross has been on pins and needles wanting to call them, but waiting for 3 weeks! *G*

We got a phone call on Oct. 6th from Dr. E's office. Ross was on the phone with them for a long time. I could see the pace quickening, and Ross had a big smile on his face! Hmm, that must be good news. He *finally* got off the phone after what seemed like an eternity, and with the biggest grin I have seen in a LONG TIME on his face, he said 'Well, the surgery for the implants is scheduled for the 19th!'. I said, 'Umm, ok, would that be Nov, or Dec?'. He is almost bouncing by this point and says, 'No, like in less than 2 weeks!!!!!' Our house went into warp speed trying to get everything on our end coordinated since then! Ross had to take some time off, which is no big deal! :) And I have been making sure that I have all my stuff that I do covered while we are gone! We are absolutely thrilled that in less than 2 weeks, we will have 1 more surgery under our belt!!! We are hoping and praying that this will be our last surgery in this odessey!!! :)

Oh, just another little note here, since they are placing these magnetic implants in the bone where Caleb's ear will go, it will take 6 months before he will be able to actually attach the prosthetic on. They said that the bone takes a long time to heal, and that 6 months makes sure that it is healed properly. That is wonderful!!!! Caleb could actually have his prosthetic ear by his 10th birthday! Now how cool is that? LMBO I am so happy for Caleb!!!

I will post more when we have more to post! *G* HUGS as always!
